Dans le cadre du cours CAR 2901 – Introduction au développement de carrière, les personnes étudiantes des programmes de majeure et de baccalauréat en développement de carrière furent invités à produire un résumé de lecture à partir d’un document scientifique rattaché à leur champ professionnel. Nous en présentons quelques-uns dans une série intitulée “Brève de recherche DDC – 2018”. Bravo à tous ces étudiantes-auteures et ces étudiants-auteurs qui en sont pour la plupart à leur première publication.

Cette recherche s’intéresse aux effets des interventions de groupe sur la prise de décision professionnelle d’élèves de niveau secondaire. Ceci étant pour favoriser leur transition entre l’école secondaire et l’université ou le marché du travail. Les auteurs se sont tout d’abord intéressés au rôle du sentiment d’efficacité personnelle dans le processus d’exploration. Autrement dit, comment la personne perçoit ses capacités à réaliser ses objectifs en lien avec le développement de carrière. Les auteurs se sont aussi intéressés à l’anxiété liée au choix de carrière en adoptant une perspective se rapprochant de la théorie de l’autodétermination. Celle-ci renvoie aux motivations, aux connaissances et aux croyances de la personne. Ils affirment aussi que d’autres recherches ont d’ailleurs démontré que l’autodétermination était directement liée à une bonne qualité de vie et à un haut sentiment d’efficacité personnelle. C’est dans cette optique que les auteurs ont étudié l’influence de l’autodétermination dans le processus de choix de carrière. Les auteurs ont aussi voulu démontrer l’importance d’un bon processus d’exploration lié au choix de carrière pour ainsi réduire l’anxiété chez les adolescents confrontés à ce choix. Finalement, ils ont observé les effets du désir de changer, les attentes des participants et la motivation dans le processus de décision de carrière chez les étudiants.

Pour cette recherche, l’échantillon était composé de 280 étudiants et étudiantes de niveaux de scolarité différents provenant de 15 écoles de la région du nord de l’Italie. Les auteurs ont effectué deux enquêtes. La première se déroulait avant le processus d’intervention et la seconde à la suite du processus d’intervention. Pour mesurer le sentiment d’efficacité personnelle dans le processus de décision de carrière, les auteurs ont utilisé le Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy (CDMSE-SF ; Betz, Klein et Taylor, 1996). Ce dernier était composé de 25 affirmations évaluant le niveau de confiance. Pour mesurer l’anxiété en lien avec la démarche de choix de carrière, ils se sont basés sur une partie du test d’Épreuve de Décision Vocationnelle qui a notamment été utilisé par Picard (2012). Pour la recherche, ils ont adapté la langue et le contexte des cinq parties utilisées. Les participants devaient attribuer une cote de 1 (pas du tout) à 5 (complètement) pour déterminer leur niveau de confiance face à leurs études et à leur avenir. Pour mesurer les attentes des participants, les auteurs ont utilisé un questionnaire comportant 6 affirmations portant sur les attentes des participants face aux interventions, à savoir si celles-ci étaient utiles ou non. Pour mesurer l’exploration de carrière, les auteurs ont utilisé cinq parties du Career Exploration Development Inventory (Super, Thompson, Lindeman, Jordaan et Myers, 1981) portant sur l’exploration de carrière. Pour évaluer le degré de motivation des participants dans leur processus de choix de carrière, les auteurs ont utilisé une échelle qu’ils avaient eux-mêmes mise au point en 2010. Cette dernière comporte cinq affirmations portant sur la motivation de changer à évaluer sur une échelle de 1 (pas du tout) à 5 (complètement).  Les résultats de cette recherche ont révélé l’importance d’une bonne intervention objective et leurs effets bénéfiques pour les adolescents en processus de décision de carrière. Ils ont notamment démontré que les élèves ayant un sentiment d’efficacité personnelle plus élevé en lien avec la décision de carrière éprouvaient moins d’anxiété liée à ce processus que les autres et que les interventions ne réduisaient pas nécessairement le niveau d’anxiété chez ces adolescents. Celui-ci demeurait constant. De plus, il a été démontré que les élèves ayant des attentes élevées éprouvaient davantage d’anxiété liée à la décision de carrière. La recherche a aussi révélé que les attentes et la motivation de changer amenaient les élèves à un processus d’exploration de carrière différent les uns des autres. Cette recherche comportait aussi quelques limites dont le manque d’un groupe contrôle dans la collecte de données. Une autre limite de cette recherche est l’adaptation d’instruments de mesure par les auteurs, ceci étant dû au manque d’instruments de mesure dans le domaine du développement de carrière.
