INTRODUCTION

Le développement de carrière c’est … beaucoup de choses !!!  Comme tout objet transitant dans un univers social, politique, économique, culturel, etc., ce champ disciplinaire évolue, se transforme, s’adapte, cherche sa place dans le monde. Ce rapport de recherche propose les résultats d’une enquête portée auprès de 151 professionnels en développement de carrière au Québec, œuvrant auprès de différentes clientèles, au sein de différents milieux et sous différents titres professionnels. L’intention première est de décrire leurs pratiques actuelles, contemporaines, en regard de ce qui les distingue, mais également de ce qui les rattache au sein d’un même corps professionnel.
Le document se divise en six chapitres. Le premier chapitre expose la problématique du champ disciplinaire en développement de carrière, au travers des enjeux individuels, professionnels et sociaux sur lesquels il intervient, ainsi que de sa spécificité au cœur d’une pluralité de pratiques professionnelles similaires. Le deuxième chapitre propose une exploration de différents référentiels explicatifs des pratiques professionnelles en développement de carrière et s’arrête plus particulièrement sur l’un d’eux, le Guide des compétences pour professionnels en développement de carrière (RHDCC, 2011) de manière à préparer la table d’une confrontation entre ce cadre théorique et la réalité de pratique contemporaine québécoise. De manière peu orthodoxe pour un travail scientifique, mais hautement pertinent sur le plan pédagogique, une série d’encadrés exposants les réflexions du chercheur principal fondées sur 20 ans d’expérience à titre de praticien et de chercheur en développement de carrière, viennent appuyer le propos. À l’intersection des deux précédents chapitres, traitant respectivement de la problématique et du cadre conceptuel, se pose un troisième chapitre qui propose un objectif d’enquête permettant de mieux décrire les pratiques professionnelles contemporaines en développement de carrière.

 Le quatrième chapitre expose la méthodologie d’enquête. Le cinquième chapitre propose une présentation des résultats selon quatre secteurs d’activités (employabilité, scolaire, cabinets-conseils et organisationnel, public et parapublics), différents titres d’emploi, les principales tâches recensés pour chacun d’eux, puis une analyse synthèse. Pour chaque secteur d’activités, une section « point-saillants » apporte une interprétation de ces résultats présentés auxquels s’ajoute une sous-section spécifique en fin de chapitre portant sur une analyse transversale de l’ensemble du matériel analysé. Enfin, le sixième et dernier chapitre présente une discussion entre les connaissances théoriques et empiriques exposées au sein des premiers chapitres du rapport et les résultats obtenus par cette enquête.
